This is a reminder about our first event of the season.

Thank you to those who have already responded to the email we sent to our membership.

When? Sunday 15 June 2025

What time? 2.15 – 4.30 pm. 

Where? Ivey Bay. We will meet on the lawned area just off SH58 (past the boom) and adjacent to Paremata Kindergarten at 2.15. Please park in the Ivey Bay parking area and use the pedestrian underpass to get across SH58. After the welcome, introduction and briefing we will head to the planting sites.

What to bring: warm clothes, drinking water, sunblock and a hat. Spades will be provided – but feel free to bring a garden spade or pick if you prefer to use your own.

Planting will entail the infill planting of tidal rushes, and the concurrent terrestrial planting of about 300 native trees on the sloping areas between the Paremata Kindergarten and the first house at Golden Gate. 

Volunteers will be divided into 2 teams – one team for planting of rushes along the Inlet edge, the other team for the terrestrial planting along the slopes of the reserve. This latter work will require a level of agility and comfort working on sloping ground. Feel free to indicate which team you would prefer to be in. For the rush planting team gumboots (or footwear that does not mind getting wet) are recommended. For the terrestrial planting wear sturdy hiking boots or footwear with good grip.

Refreshments will be provided to keep everyone going.
