Our Policies
From time to time, contentious issues arise and we are asked for our views. If we cannot give an immediate response, or there are differing points of view, we may develop a policy on the issue. Where we feel that we cannot take a clear position, we survey our members.
GOPI’s major aims are to support the implementation of the Porirua Harbour Strategy and Action Plan, consult the Inlet communities, inform and educate the public and provide opportunities for them to celebrate and care for the Inlet, make submissions, promote research and monitoring and carry out some monitoring directly.
Overall, we are concerned to promote and protect the ecological, recreational and cultural values of the Inlet. Our recently revised policies on Pathways and Renewable Energy are consistent with our aims.
