Living Waters Documentaries

In 2011 an excellent series of 12 ten-minute documentary videos, one for each month,  was created to highlight different aspects of Pāuatahanui Inlet, environmental, recreational and commercial.

The videos were sponsored by the Pāuatahanui Inlet Community Trust (PICT, which has since merged with GOPI) and made possible with funding from the Mana Community Grants Foundation.

Each documentary contains film of the Inlet and interviews with a number of local residents and scientist.

They are well worth a watch and can be viewed from the Porirua Harbour and Catchment Community Trust or by selecting the banner.

NOTE:  A thirteenth video was added to the Living Water series in 2015, made for the benefit of the Samoan community and those from that island nation that made Porirua their home.

This is the first educational documentary on the Porirua Harbour and catchment produced in the Samoan language and is part of the education resource provided by the Porirua Harbour Trust. The ‘’Home to Harbour – Maota i le Talafatai’ documentary was developed to encourage and raise awareness amongst the Samoan community about the importance of looking after the harbour, both the Onepoto Arm and Pāuatahanui Inlet.

While much of the dialogue is in the Samoan language, English subtitles are provided to ensure its messages reaches a wide audience.

Living Waters Series 2

In our newsletter of December 2024 we announced a new initiative for the creation of an updated Living Waters series.

This series is to be entitled Wai Ora: Living Waters II.

The timeline for its production is not fixed at the moment and therefore a release date is not available. However we have included a document on this site that summarises the background to this initiative and how it should be presented.
